Mrs. Nickell's 3rd grade class at Wylie Intermediate School participated in the "JA in a Day" program.  Volunteers from Abilene Regional Medical Center provided 10 volunteers to teach students the JA curriculum.

Announcement:  Partnership between Junior Achievement and the Abilene Chamber of Commerce to build our youth for the future workforce!

Junior Achievement of Abilene and the Abilene Chamber of Commerce have joined together in an effort to prepare local youth for the future workforce. The Chamber of Commerce Leadership Education and Development Committee (LEAD) met with local business leaders and educators. Out of those meetings came a need to better educate students on “essential skills”; strong work ethic, minimal absenteeism, teamwork, building rapport and other skills that will allow them to be successful in the workplace.  Junior Achievement has two programs, JA Economics for Success (8th grade) and JA Success Skills (9th-12th grades) that address these issues.

The Abilene Chamber of Commerce is encouraging its membership to get involved in this initiative by volunteering to teach a Junior Achievement class at a local middle or high school.  All new volunteers are trained before they enter the classroom and provided with all materials and detailed lesson plans needed for the class.

So SIGN UP TODAY to help educate the future workforce in Abilene.  A Junior Achievement staff person will get you placed in a class!
